LPN *4,000 sign-on bonus (Child & Adolescent Neuropsychiatric Unit-Towson, Full Time, Day/Eve)

$4,000 Sign on Bonus. Our Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatric Unit is a specialized inpatient unit for the psychiatric evaluation, stabilization, and treatment of children and adolescents with co-occurring developmental and psychiatric disorders. This 14-bed unit is the only one of its kind in Maryland, and offers a behavioral approach to care for these dually diagnosed children and adolescents. As an LPN, you will: Provide professional patient care Collect patient data and participate in treatment planning Administer medications and medical treatment as prescribed by physician Document and report patient progress to treatment team Requires: Graduation from an accredited program of nursing and current registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Maryland at the time of appointment and continuously throughout tenure in position (or must be eligible to obtain LPN licensure by time of hire). LPNs are required to work every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday). Experience in psychiatric nursing preferred. Must be able to attend required 7 day orientation: Thursday, Friday and the following Monday through Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm each day, excluding Saturday and Sunday.

Hospital Operations Supervisor, Registered Nurse (Towson, Evening/Night, 8-Hour Shifts)

$37.33 - $61.52 / hour
As a Hospital Operations Supervisor you will: Oversees or shares oversight of hospital-wide nursing services during evening, night or weekend shifts. Reviews shift reports from preceding shifts to be apprised of activity and issues; makes rounds or collaboratively manages rounds coverage to assure the quality of nursing services on all units. Monitors high risk and complicated cases and institutes appropriate actions when in-the-moment decisions are needed. May reassign and reallocate nursing resources to meet building needs. Provides significant input into the performance appraisal and competency assessment of nursing staff. Provides effective communication with the CNO, Unit Managers/Directors, Senior Nursing Directors, and the staffing office. Participates in the development of nursing policies, procedures, standards of practice, and in the planning and evaluation of nursing operations. Requires: Work requires graduation from an accredited program of nursing, possession of a current RN license in the State of Maryland, and at least 3 years of psychiatric nursing experience, with at least two years in an inpatient environment. BSN is preferred. Experience must include: comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric nursing, strong clinical and leadership skills, knowledge of the specialized needs of varying patient populations, demonstrated ability to build collaborative work relationships, proven ability to make effective clinical decisions in the moment, general knowledge of TJC and regulatory requirements, computer skills that include familiarity with electronic medical record, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, scheduling system, and electronic medications dispensing. Work requires interpersonal skills to provide effective leadership and coordination of nursing staff on assigned shift and to interact respectfully with patients, visitors, and staff. Work requires problem solving skills to manage resources, respond quickly to emergencies, and participate in the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of nursing services. Work requires constant adaptation to multiple demands for the individual's time and energy and produces a high level of stress and mental fatigue. Work requires the ability to quickly identify issues, intervene and escalate as necessary Hours: Standard schedule: 3:00pm – 11:30pm 30-minute break included Start times are fixed; end times may vary depending on end-of-shift acuity Biweekly weekend shifts required (fewer weekends possible if coverage remains consistent) If you prefer 12 hour shifts, options may be available. Nurse Coordinator - Towson Young Adult (Day Shift)

As a Nurse Coordinator you will: Communicates in a therapeutic, respectful way with patients at the patients’ level of understanding. Investigates and follows up on complaints or concerns from patients’ family members. Assigns inpatient rooms based on requirements of programming tracks on inpatient unit(s). Reassigns nursing staff as necessary to provide optimum coverage and regulatory/compliance requirements. Manages milieu and operational concerns on unit(s). Assists and provides direction to nursing staff in resolving problems. Apprises nurse leader of concerns that require her/his attention. In the absence of or as delegated by the nurse leader, assesses and coordinates the resolution of clinical crises. Provides significant input into the procedures and protocols for the unit Provides support to nurse leader by interviewing and screening candidates for existing nursing vacancies. Orients new nursing staff to the unit. Maintains appropriate documentation regarding new employee and ongoing education and training, competency assessment and performance appraisal, working with Human Resources as needed. Identifies nursing staff education needs and recommends methods of staff development to nurse leader. Provides input into the performance appraisals of RNs, mental health workers and unit support staff Utilizes clinical expertise in the provision of direct patient care as needed, consultative activities, staff development, and treatment planning. Provides quality nursing care services that are based on an understanding of the needs of the assigned patient population Assists nurse leader in evaluating and monitoring nursing documentation and initiates corrective action to ensure compliance with internal and external standards Helps create a culture of performance improvement that contributes to providing quality, cost effective services. Suggests ways in which the unit/program can maintain and improve safety. Attends required in-services for updates and reviews. Requirements: Work requires graduation from an accredited program of nursing (BSN preferred) and possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland at the time of appointment and continuously while in position. Work requires clinical and managerial skills, knowledge of psychiatric nursing, and comprehensive knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of assigned patient population - acquired through two to three years of related experience, 1 of which must be in inpatient psychiatric nursing. Work requires interpersonal skills sufficient to provide effective leadership for assigned personnel and to interact effectively with psychiatrically and physically ill patients, family members, visitors and a variety of Sheppard Pratt departments (51 to 80% of work time). Work requires analytical and problem-solving abilities necessary to reassign nursing staff to meet programming demands of unit; screen applicants (with supervision of nurse leader); identify training needs; and resolve nursing and administrative issues in absence of the nurse leader. In keeping with the Maryland Board of Nursing guidelines, all nurses must have an active Maryland nursing license to practice in the state of Maryland, or must have an active license in a compact state that allows them to practice in Maryland, if they reside in that compact state. A multistate licensee who changes primary state of residence to another party state shall apply for a multistate license in the new party state within 60 days. The rule requires that a nurse apply for a new license in a new primary state of residence within 60 days of relocating, it does not require the new license be issued within 60 days. #LI-RM1

Assistant Director- Registered Nurse (Gaithersburg, Day Shift)

Sheppard Pratt is searching for a Registered Nurse to serve as Assistant Director for its Health Home program split between Gaithersburg and Lanham, MD. The Health Home targets populations who are having their behavioral health needs met at Sheppard Pratt’s Day Program , Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program , or Residential Rehabilitation Program . The team provides an extra layer of care, providing an integrated approach for people who are living with both mental and physical illness. What to Expect as an Assistant Director You will coordinate somatic healthcare in tandem with mental illness, emotional disturbance and/or substance use disorder treatment. You will identify the gaps and barriers between behavioral and physical healthcare to develop wellness and prevention initiatives that ensure all care needs are met. Once assigned a patient, you will ensure the implementation of their treatment plan in partnership with program leadership and staff, the individual, and their support system. You will be asked to: Monitor treatment plan goals. Coordinate access to medical providers and hospitals, including admission and discharge. Ensure patients complete all required assessments, screenings, and immunizations. In an effort to continually improve patient care, the Assistant Director will also: Keep abreast of current trends and developments in the field. Participate in the evaluation of program effectiveness and ensure continuous improvements in the quality of services. Assist in training of Health Home staff, specifically nurses. Identify quality improvement opportunities and population-level care management. Develop and maintain partnership with external entities (hospitals, medical providers, and community organizations) that play a role in treatment plans.
